My Favorite Critter: Firefly
Looking Down
At the Edge
Firefly reminded me of my childhood, and now of JoJo's childhood when I watched him chasing this flickering light at night during the summer. It was childhood at its most innocent, joyful, and excitement.
Ready to Go
My son caught this one firefly for a close-up and examination. He kept it in a jar with air holes on the lid, of course, and let it go the next day. Thus, I took full advantage of it in the first few moments the firefly left the jar to snap these photos.

Fireflies are one of my favorites too. I once lived in a place where they would come out by the millions at night.
I've never see one before, quite a nice looking creature. I always imagine them to always glow even though it's not true.
have a sweet day.
beautiful and very crisp shots of the firefly Icy. I can see Jojo is very affectionate with critters and animals, am sure, he'll grow up to be a fine young man.
I love fireflies too! I remember delightful times as a youngster playing with them.
I've seen fireflies in the night time, when they're all in their glory. However, this is the first time I've seen what they really look like. I've never been able to capture one.
I've also never seen them in England.
Icy, what a cool and unique closeup. I don't think I have ever seen one in person before. This is a special treat to see your photo.
Excellent shots of the firefly!
not sure i'd recognize one if i saw it in the daytime! :)
I love fireflies too.
They decorate trees like Christmas tree.
Lights keep blinking.
I love to sit outside on a summer's night and watch the fireflies!
Nice macro shots of firefly.
The nights are more beautiful when there are fireflies.
Regards and best wishes
Unbelievable but I've never ever seen a firefly other than at night. Never chased them, just like to guess where the light would flicker next. It's an amazing little bug. Thanks for my viewing.
These are wonderful macros!
No fireflies here...and I certainly didn't know they look like this! Wonderful macro capture.
It's been many years since I've seen any of these "lightning bugs," as we used to call them.
Such great memories of fireflies growing up in Virginia. I live in the West now, and I DO miss them.
I have never seen a firefly! Thanks for the pictures!!
I love the fireflies too. I enjoy sitting on my deck and watching them during the summer months.
They really are a miracle of nature, especially in summer when there are thousands flying among the cornstalks.
Awesome macros -- thank you so much for sharing at Your Sunday Best.
Wonderful captures of this little creature!!
You certainly got some great shots! I love these, and it's great that you've made some wonderful childhood memories.
I've only seen them a couple times, when I visited family in NC... magical!
Nice shot of the firefly. The shell looks very sturdy.
